Hostinger web hosting: what the cheapest plan really costs
The short answer
Hostinger Premium is the cheapest plan that runs a WordPress site: $2.49 a month, but only if you prepay 48 months, which is $119.52 for three years plus a fourth. That is a limited-time Black Friday price with no published end date, and the plan renews at $10.99 a month ($131.88 a year). It suits a budget owner with one to three small sites who can pay four years at once.
The short version
- Cheapest plan for one WordPress site: Premium, $2.49 a month, but only on a 48-month term paid up front: $119.52.
- It is a sale price: Hostinger labels $2.49 (and $3.49 for Unlimited) a limited-time Black Friday deal and does not say when it ends. The regular price it shows is $12.19 a month.
- Three-year cost: $119.52. Hostinger sells 1, 12, 24 or 48-month terms, with no 36-month term, so that one payment covers three years and a fourth.
- What renews: Premium renews at $10.99 a month, which is $131.88 a year. The free domain and the 2 free mailboxes are free for the first year only.
- Right for: a budget owner with one to three small WordPress sites who can pay four years at once.
Hostinger sells web hosting: space on its servers where your site’s files and database live. This page covers the hosting plans you would use for WordPress. If you want Hostinger’s drag-and-drop builder instead, see our Hostinger website builder review. Everything below comes from Hostinger’s own pricing, help and legal pages.
What the cheapest plan really costs over three years
Hostinger’s pricing pages show only the 48-month price. “All plans are paid upfront,” and the monthly rate is the total divided by the months in the plan. Row (a) uses the Black Friday price, so it holds only while the sale lasts.
| How you pay | Year 1 | Years 2 and 3 | 3-year total |
|---|---|---|---|
| (a) Prepay 48 months at the intro price | $119.52 (covers years 1 to 4) | $0 | $119.52 |
| (b) Pay 12 months, then renew yearly | Not published | $263.76 | Not published |
The arithmetic:
- (a) $2.49 × 48 months = $119.52. Your first renewal comes in year 5, at $10.99 a month ($131.88 for a year).
- (b) The 12-month intro price is not published on the pages we checked, so we cannot total this row. The renewal years alone are $10.99 × 24 months = $263.76. Hostinger quotes the renewal as a monthly rate and does not say which term it applies to; we used two 12-month renewals.
So the two renewal years in row (b) cost more than twice the full 48-month prepay in row (a).
The free domain needs a plan of 12 months or longer and is free for one year. Hostinger’s help center says you renew it “at the standard renewal price” but does not give the amount. Its .com page says “the renewal fee is $19.99/year.” Budget for a domain renewal from year 2.
Verisign raises the .com wholesale fee from $10.26 to $10.97 a year on November 1, 2026. Hostinger has not published a new .com price on the pages we checked. Its terms also say renewals are charged “at then-current fees,” which “may be higher or lower” than what you paid first. Auto-renewal is on by default.
The plans in one table
| Plan | Intro price (48 months, prepaid) | Renews at | Sites | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $2.49/mo ($119.52) | $10.99/mo | 3 | 20 GB SSD |
| Unlimited | $3.49/mo ($167.52) | $16.99/mo | Unlimited | 50 GB NVMe |
| Cloud Startup | $7.99/mo ($383.52) | $25.99/mo | Unlimited | 100 GB NVMe |
These intro prices are Black Friday deals: Hostinger’s pages say “Limited time deals” and “Get your Black Friday deal before it ends,” with no end date. The struck-through regular prices are $12.19, $18.99 and $27.99 a month. Check the price in the cart before you pay.
“Unlimited features are subject to our Fair Usage Policy,” Hostinger says. Its help articles still call the middle plan “Business.”
What is included
- SSL: Hostinger says a free SSL certificate is built into every plan, so your site loads over HTTPS.
- Backups: Premium gets weekly backups. Unlimited adds daily backups, and Cloud Startup adds on-demand backups. The help center says weekly backups are kept 6 weeks and daily backups 7 days. The Hosting Agreement still says “only two weeks of backups are stored,” calls backups a courtesy and makes you “solely responsible” for your own. A restore price is not published on the pages we checked. Keep your own copy.
- Email: Premium includes 2 mailboxes per website; the higher plans include unlimited mailboxes. Both are free for 1 year. The price after that is not published on the pages we checked.
- Free migration: “unlimited free migrations,” with up to five active requests at a time and no bulk moves. See website migration.
- CDN: Unlimited and Cloud Startup say “CDN included.” The Premium card lists a CDN without saying it is included, so check before you buy.
- Staging: the help center says the staging tool needs “a Business web hosting plan or higher.” Premium is not listed.
The uptime promise
Hostinger’s Hosting Agreement promises 99.9% uptime each month. If it misses, you can ask for “a credit of 5% of your monthly hosting fee for that month.”
That credit can only be spent on more Hostinger products, and you must claim it within 30 days. Scheduled maintenance, your own scripts or third-party apps, DDoS attacks and other causes outside Hostinger’s control do not count.
Leaving later
- Full backups: you can download your files (.tar.gz) and each MySQL database (.sql.gz) from the Backups section of the dashboard. This is not available for sites built with Hostinger’s AI Builder.
- The move is on you: the agreement says Hostinger “will not transfer or FTP your website or server content to another provider,” and content left after your plan ends is deleted.
- Cancellation fee: none listed in the terms. Turn off auto-renewal before the renewal charge.
- Refund window: 30 days for hosting. Domain renewals and completed domain transfers are not refundable. If you refund a plan that came with a free domain, the domain’s cost is taken out of your refund, and you keep the domain until it expires.
- Moving the domain: more than 60 days must have passed since registration or transfer. Turn off privacy protection and the domain lock, then copy the EPP code from the domain’s overview page. No transfer-out fee is mentioned. Our domain transfer guide covers the rest.
Who it is right for, and who should look elsewhere
Right for:
- Owners of one to three small WordPress sites who want the lowest four-year bill and can prepay $119.52.
- Beginners who want free migration, SSL and a first year of email and domain in one account.
Look elsewhere if:
- You want to pay one year at a time at a price you can see up front.
- You need staging or daily backups on the cheapest plan.
- You want an uptime promise that pays more than a 5% store credit.
- You may switch hosts within a month or two, since a refund loses the free domain’s cost.
