Website cost calculator
The short answer
This calculator estimates what a website really costs over three years: the plan, domain renewals after the free first year, email, paid apps and transaction fees on sales. Compare the total, not the headline monthly price.
Defaults: Namecheap .com prices ($11.28 first year, $18.48 renewal) where a builder does not publish its own renewal price; email at Google Workspace Business Starter, $7 per user a month billed yearly. Card processing uses the plan’s published US online rate plus 30 cents per order.
What the calculator adds up
- The plan. Priced billed yearly. For hosts sold on long prepaid terms, like Hostinger, the intro price and the renewal price both count.
- Domain renewals. Many builders include the domain free for the first year only. Years two and three cost extra.
- Email. A business inbox is usually a separate cost. For example, Google Workspace Business Starter is $7.00 per user a month on the annual plan. See email hosting.
- Apps and plugins. Paid add-ons for bookings, forms, reviews and similar features.
- Transaction fees. The platform’s own cut of each sale, separate from card processing. See transaction fees.
Reading the result
Platform prices come from official pricing pages, checked October 2026. Some vendors don’t publish every number, such as a domain renewal price, so check each line and adjust it to match your own quote.
The total is an estimate before sales tax. Our research method explains how each line is counted, and the website cost guide walks through full examples.
Questions people ask
Why does the calculator use three years?
Free domains and email offers often end after the first year, and fees on sales add up over time. Three years shows the cost once those extras end.
Does the total include sales tax?
No. Vendor list prices generally exclude sales tax, so the result is an estimate before tax.
Are card processing fees included?
Transaction fees here mean the platform's own cut of each sale. Card processing is a separate cost you pay on nearly every platform.
