Lovable vs Webflow: which should you build on in 2026?
The short answer
Webflow is the better choice for a content-rich business website, with a strong CMS, a built-in store and fixed published prices. The quick verdict
Pick Webflow if you need a professional business website with real content behind it: service pages, a blog, case studies, maybe a small store. It is a visual builder with a strong CMS, and costs are fixed and published. It takes longer to learn than simpler builders.
Pick Lovable if you need an app people log into, such as a client portal, a booking tool with accounts or an internal dashboard. You build it by chatting with AI, it comes with a database and logins, and you own the code. Your bill changes with how much AI work you ask for.
In short: Webflow is for websites, Lovable is for apps. Lovable is a vibe coding tool, and Webflow is a design-first visual builder that has added AI on top.
Side by side
| Lovable | Webflow | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | AI app builder | Visual website builder with CMS |
| Starting paid price | Pro: $20.83 a month billed yearly ($25 billed monthly) | Basic site: $15 a month billed yearly ($18 billed monthly) |
| Top published plan | Business: $41.67 a month billed yearly ($50 billed monthly) | Team: $2,500 a month, annual contract |

| Exit score | 9/10 | 6/10 |
| Best for | Apps with logins and data | Content-rich marketing sites |
Webflow’s Ecommerce plans start at $29 a month billed yearly ($39 billed monthly), and payment processors such as Stripe and PayPal charge their own fees on top. Both companies offer custom-priced Enterprise plans.
Cost over 3 years
These two charge in very different ways. Webflow has two kinds of plans that are billed separately. Lovable charges for AI work, because the AI is how you build and change anything.
How Webflow pricing works
- A site plan for each website. This pays for hosting and publishing. Basic is $15 a month billed yearly ($18 billed monthly) but has no CMS, so no blog. Premium is $25 a month billed yearly ($35 billed monthly) and adds the CMS with up to 20,000 items.
- A workspace plan for the people who build. The free Starter workspace gives you 1 full seat. Paid workspaces add staging sites and code export: Core is $19 a month billed yearly. Extra full seats are $39 a month and limited seats $15 a month, billed yearly.
- AI credits. Workspaces include 200, 300 or 400 AI credits a month depending on the plan. An add-on gives 2,000 more credits for $20 a month billed yearly. You can build a whole Webflow site without using AI.
- Bandwidth. If your site goes over its bandwidth limit two months in a row, Webflow upgrades it automatically.
How Lovable credits work
- Credits per message. According to Lovable’s plans and credits docs, a Build message costs 0.50 to 2.00 credits in Lovable’s examples, depending on complexity. Plan mode is 1 credit per message.
- What Pro includes. 100 monthly credits plus 5 daily Build credits. The monthly credits cover roughly 50 to 200 Build messages.
- Top-ups. $15 per 50 credits on Pro, $30 per 50 on Business.
- Running the app. Hosting is included, and a live site does not use credits by itself. Backend activity (the database and logins at work) and AI features inside the app are billed as usage-based “Run credits.”
- Expiry. Monthly credits roll over for a limited time; top-ups expire 12 months after purchase.
The practical difference: on Webflow, fixing a typo is free, because you click and type. On Lovable, most changes are a prompt, and prompts use credits.
The worked example
Take the same small service business: home, services, about and contact pages plus a blog, one owner, one mailbox and a .com domain name. Webflow needs Premium for the blog. Neither tool includes business email, so we added Google Workspace.
| Cost item (3 years) | Lovable Pro | Webflow Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Plan, billed yearly | $750 | $900 |
| .com domain at Namecheap | $48.24 | $48.24 |
| Google Workspace Business Starter, 1 user | $252 | $252 |
| Total | $1,050.24 to about $1,590.24 | $1,200.24 |
| Optional: Webflow code export (Core workspace) | Not needed | +$684 |
The domain line is Namecheap’s $11.28 first-year price plus two renewals at $18.48; Webflow’s pricing page lists no free domain. Email is $7 per user a month on Google Workspace’s annual plan.
The Lovable range runs from staying inside your included credits to buying one $15 top-up every month for three years. It does not include Run credits, which depend on how busy your app is. Webflow’s figure is fixed unless you add seats or go over your bandwidth. If you skip the blog, Webflow Basic comes to $840.24 over three years.

Design and ease of use
Webflow gives you a visual canvas with professional layout controls. It is built for designers, agencies and marketing teams, and beginners who want a simple drag-and-drop builder may find it a lot to learn. You can start from free and paid templates in its marketplace. Premium and higher site plans add code components for developers.
Lovable starts from a chat box. You describe the app, the AI writes the code, and a preview appears beside the chat. There is no canvas. You change things by asking again, or by editing code on a paid plan. It also handles the parts Webflow does not, like user accounts and a database, through Lovable Cloud.
After launch, Webflow is easier for day-to-day edits by non-technical staff. Lovable is better when the “site” has logic, like showing each customer only their own data.
Store, blog and SEO
Store. Webflow has a built-in store. Ecommerce Standard allows 500 products and charges a 2% Webflow transaction fee; Plus ($74 a month billed yearly, $99 billed monthly) and Advanced drop that fee to 0%. Lovable has no store; it can build payments into an app, but we could not confirm its payment integration details in the docs.
Blog and content. This is Webflow’s strength. Its CMS handles custom collections, not just blog posts: 20,000 items and 40 collections on Premium. Lovable has no CMS, so new posts may need another prompt or a code edit.
SEO. Webflow has built-in SEO controls, and its Team and Enterprise plans add AEO agents aimed at visibility in AI search. Lovable projects created after 13 May 2026 use server-side rendering, so search engines get finished pages. Older Lovable projects draw pages in the browser, but Lovable serves ready-made copies to verified search engines, social preview bots and AI crawlers.
AI features
Webflow adds AI to a visual builder:
- Webflow AI on every plan, including the free one, using monthly AI credits
- An AI site builder
- An MCP server, a connection that lets outside AI assistants work with your Webflow site (version 2.1 announced September 2026)
- AEO agents for AI-search visibility on Team and Enterprise, plus newer beta tools for landing pages and creative assets
Lovable is AI from top to bottom:
- Build, Plan and Chat modes that write and edit the whole app
- Lovable Cloud backend: database, logins, server functions and storage
- An AI gateway for adding AI features to your app (usage-based)
- Security scanning on every publish, with a deeper scan on demand
Leaving later
On our exit scores, Lovable scores 9 out of 10 and Webflow 6. Both are better than most hosted builders, but in different ways.
Webflow lets paid workspaces export the site as a ZIP of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images. Its help center is clear about the limits: after export, the CMS, forms, ecommerce, site search, password protection and localized pages stop working. CMS and store data export separately as CSV files. So you get a static copy of the design, not a working site. Webflow connects domains from outside registrars, so you keep yours.
Lovable gives you the real source code. It syncs two ways with GitHub on every plan, and paid plans can download a .zip. Lovable’s FAQ says “Your apps, code, and the content you create with Lovable are yours,” subject to open-source licenses. Lovable publishes a guide to hosting elsewhere, but warns that “each part you move becomes yours to run, update, and secure.” The database can be exported once every 24 hours, and signed-in users must sign in again after a move. Plan on a developer.
Our guide to leaving your website builder covers both paths.

Pick Lovable if:
- Your customers or staff need to sign in and work with their own data

- Framer, if you want a design-first website that is quicker to learn, from $10 a month billed yearly. See Framer vs Lovable.
- Self-hosted WordPress, if you want a content site you fully own, with a 10/10 exit score. We build on WordPress every week. See Webflow vs WordPress.
- Bolt, if you want an AI app builder that can import an existing GitHub project.

Is Lovable a replacement for Webflow?
Not for most websites. Lovable builds apps with a database and logins, while Webflow builds content websites with a visual editor and CMS.

A site plan pays for hosting each website, and a workspace plan pays for the people who build it, including staging and code export. They are billed separately.
Can I export my site from Webflow?
Paid workspaces can export static HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images. The CMS, forms, store and site search stop working after export, and CMS data exports separately as CSV.
Which is cheaper over three years?
In our example, Lovable Pro is $1,050.24 to about $1,590.24 with a domain and one mailbox, plus usage-based Run credits. Webflow Premium is $1,200.24, or $840.24 on Basic without a blog.
Does Webflow have AI features?
