Webflow review 2026: site plans, workspace plans and the real cost
The short answer
Webflow is a strong pick for designers and agencies who want full layout control and a real CMS, starting at $15 a month billed yearly ($18 billed monthly) for a site without a CMS, or $25 ($35) for Premium with the CMS. Expect two bills: a site plan for each website and, for teams or code export, a paid Workspace plan from $16 a month billed yearly. Beginners who want quick drag-and-drop will find it harder than most builders.

What Webflow is and who it’s for
Webflow is a visual website builder for people who think like designers. You lay out pages on a canvas, much like a design tool, and Webflow writes the HTML and CSS behind the scenes and hosts the finished site. Webflow, Inc. was founded in 2013 and is based in San Francisco.
Its two big strengths are design control and a real CMS (content management system). You can create your own content types, such as team members, case studies or locations, not just blog posts.
The trade-off is a steeper learning curve. Webflow is aimed at designers, agencies and marketing teams, and it uses ideas from web design such as classes and layout boxes. If you want a simple drag-and-drop builder you can master in an afternoon, it is not the easiest place to start.
Webflow is a smaller platform than the big consumer builders. W3Techs data from October 2026 shows it on 0.8% of all websites and 1.2% of sites that use a known CMS.
Plans and what they really cost
Webflow’s pricing confuses a lot of people, because there are two different kinds of plan and you may pay for both.
Every website you publish on your own domain needs a paid site plan. The free Starter Workspace includes 1 full seat, 2 staging sites and 200 AI credits a month, which can be enough for one person running one site. You start paying for a Workspace when you need more seats, more staging sites, shared libraries or code export. Freelancers and agencies building client sites have their own Workspace plans.
The 2026 plan change
If you read an older Webflow review, the plan names will not match. In 2026 Webflow replaced its old CMS and Business site plans with a single Premium plan, and added a Team platform plan at $2,500 a month. Webflow’s pricing page does not give a date. A third-party write-up on nocode.tech puts the switch around May 2026 and reports that existing plans stayed in place until renewal.
Site plans
| Site plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Key limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Free | webflow.io address, 2 static pages, 1 GB bandwidth |
| Basic | $15/mo | $18/mo | 300 static pages, 10 GB bandwidth, no CMS |
| Premium | $25/mo | $35/mo | 500 static pages, 20,000 CMS items, 40 collections |
| Team | $2,500/mo | Annual contract only | Adds Localize, publishing workflows, 100,000 AI credits a year |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Custom quote | Custom roles, account manager |
Starter allows 50 form submissions and has only “limited CMS.” Basic and Premium allow unlimited form submissions. Premium also adds site search, code components and form file uploads, and the pricing page lists its bandwidth as “up to 2.5 TB/month.”
Ecommerce plans
| Ecommerce plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Webflow fee | Items |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $29/mo | $39/mo | 2% | 500 |
| Plus | $74/mo | $99/mo | 0% | 5,000 |
| Advanced | $212/mo | $284/mo | 0% | 15,000 |
Payments run through Stripe or PayPal, and their processing fees come on top of the Webflow transaction fee. Webflow’s pricing page does not list those processor rates. On yearly billing, Plus costs $45 a month more than Standard but drops the 2% fee, so it works out cheaper once you sell more than $27,000 a year.
Workspace plans
| Workspace | Billed yearly | What you get | Code export |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | 1 full seat, 2 staging sites, 200 AI credits/mo | No |
| Core | $19/mo | 10 staging sites, 300 AI credits/mo, Shared Libraries | Yes |
| Growth | $49/mo | Unlimited staging sites, 400 AI credits/mo, publishing permissions | Yes |
| Freelancer | $16/mo | For freelancers building client sites | Yes |
| Agency | $35/mo | For agencies building client sites | Yes |
The pricing page shows only yearly-billed prices for paid Workspaces; monthly-billed prices are not shown. Extra seats cost $39 a month for a full seat and $15 a month for a limited seat, at annual prices.
Add-ons can stack up on top of both plans:
- More AI credits: $20 a month for 2,000 credits (annual price).
- Localization: Localize Essential at $9 a month for 1 to 3 locales, or Localize Advanced at $29 a month for up to 10 locales (annual prices). Team includes Localize.
- Optimize from $299 a month (priced by page views) and Analyze from $9 a month (priced by sessions).
All prices are in USD plus applicable taxes. The pricing page says yearly billing saves “up to 40%.”
A 3-year cost example
Here is a small US business site with service pages and a blog. It needs the CMS, so it uses Premium, billed yearly. Webflow’s pricing page lists no free domain, so the .com is bought at an outside registrar. There is one Google Workspace email inbox.
| Cost | Over 3 years |
|---|---|
| Premium site plan ($25/mo billed yearly) | $900 |
| .com at Namecheap ($11.28 first year, $18.48 renewal) | $48.24 |
| Google Workspace Business Starter, 1 user ($7/mo billed yearly) | $252 |
| Total with the free Starter Workspace | $1,200.24 |
| Add a Core Workspace ($19/mo billed yearly) | +$684 |
| Total with Core Workspace | $1,884.24 |
The second total is the one that surprises people. If a designer builds and maintains the site, or you want the code export as an exit plan, you are paying for a Workspace as well as the site.
Paying Premium monthly instead would cost $1,260 over 3 years rather than $900. And watch your traffic: Webflow includes “surge protection,” but a site that goes over its bandwidth limit two months in a row is upgraded automatically.
What you can build
Design
Design control is the reason to choose Webflow. You set spacing, layout and type on every element, and the template marketplace has free and paid starting points. The pricing page lists code components on Premium and above, so developers can add their own building blocks.
CMS and blog
Premium’s CMS holds 20,000 items across 40 collections, which is enough for a large blog or resource library. Basic has no CMS at all, so a site with a blog starts at Premium. You can import CMS content from CSV and export it to CSV.
Online store
Webflow’s ecommerce suits small, design-led catalogs. The top ecommerce plan caps out at 15,000 items and 15 staff accounts, so a large or fast-growing store will usually be happier on a dedicated store platform.
SEO
Webflow has built-in SEO settings, including page titles and descriptions, a sitemap and 301 redirects for moved pages. Team and Enterprise add Webflow AEO, a set of AI agents aimed at getting your content found in AI search answers (AEO stands for answer engine optimization).
AI features
Webflow AI is included on every plan, even the free one, and runs on monthly AI credits: 200, 300 or 400 depending on your Workspace, or 100,000 a year on platform plans. There is also an AI site builder for getting a first draft started.
Webflow also offers an MCP server, which is a connector that lets outside AI agents read and work on your site. At Webflow Conf in September 2026 the company announced MCP 2.1, content-creation agents for AEO, Campaigns (beta) and Assets (beta from October 2026) for landing pages and creative work, and a research preview called Source by Webflow.
What happens when you leave
Webflow is unusual among visual builders because it has an official code export, but there are conditions. According to the Webflow help article on code export:
- You need a paid Workspace plan: Core, Growth, Freelancer or Agency. A site plan alone does not include it.
- You get a ZIP file of HTML pages, CSS (your styles plus webflow.css and normalize.css), JavaScript and images.
- Every export includes the whole site. You cannot export only part of it.
What you get is a static site: a snapshot that looks right but has no engine behind it. These parts stop working after export:
- CMS content and Collection pages
- Ecommerce and User Accounts
- Forms (including reCAPTCHA) and site search
- Password protection and localized pages
- Code components, and Lottie animations unless you run a web server
Your content and store data leave separately. CMS Collections (including translated content), Ecommerce Collections and User Accounts export as CSV files. A CSV is just data, so you will need to import it into your next CMS and rebuild the templates around it.
Your domain is the easy part. Webflow connects domains registered elsewhere, so you keep the domain at your registrar and point it to your new host when you leave. Our guide to leaving your website builder walks through the full move.
Gotchas
- Two bills, not one. Your cost is a site plan plus a Workspace plan plus any extra seats, and code export needs a paid Workspace (pricing page; help center).
- Exported code is a snapshot. CMS, forms, ecommerce, search, localization and memberships stop working outside Webflow (help center).
- A big jump to Team. Going from Premium at $25 a month to Team at $2,500 a month on an annual contract is the next step if you need publishing workflows, the site activity log and API, or Localize included (pricing page).
- Automatic upgrades. Sites over their bandwidth limit two months in a row are upgraded automatically (pricing page).
- 2% fee on the cheapest store plan. Ecommerce Standard adds a 2% Webflow fee on top of payment-processor fees (pricing page).
- No CMS on Basic. A blog means at least Premium (pricing page).
Who should pick Webflow, and who should not
Pick Webflow if:
- You are a designer or agency building custom marketing sites and want full control of the layout.
- Your site is content-heavy and needs a structured CMS with your own content types.
- You want a static HTML and CSS export as a fallback exit plan, and you are willing to pay for a Workspace to get it.
Look elsewhere if:
- You are a beginner who wants a simple drag-and-drop builder.
- You plan a large online store; the top ecommerce plan stops at 15,000 items.
- You want one simple bill. Site and Workspace plans are charged separately.
Alternatives worth a look
- Webflow vs Framer: the closest rival for design-led marketing sites, with simpler pricing but no official code export.
- Webflow vs WordPress: if you want to own every file and the database.
- Webflow vs Squarespace: an easier builder with polished templates.
- Wix vs Webflow: for owners who want drag-and-drop simplicity and lots of built-in apps.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between a Webflow site plan and a Workspace plan?
A site plan pays for hosting and publishing one website on your domain. A Workspace plan pays for the people building it: seats, staging sites, AI credits and code export. You may need both.
What happened to Webflow's CMS and Business plans?
In 2026 Webflow replaced them with a single Premium site plan at $25 a month billed yearly ($35 billed monthly). A third-party report says existing CMS and Business plans stayed in place until renewal.
Can you export code from Webflow?
Yes, but only on a paid Workspace plan (Core, Growth, Freelancer or Agency). You get static HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images; the CMS, forms, ecommerce, search and memberships stop working outside Webflow.
Does Webflow have a free plan?
Yes. The free Starter site plan publishes on a webflow.io address with 2 static pages, 1 GB of bandwidth and 50 form submissions. You need a paid site plan to use your own domain.
Does Webflow charge transaction fees?
Ecommerce Standard charges a 2% Webflow fee. Ecommerce Plus and Advanced charge 0%. Stripe or PayPal processing fees apply on top on every plan.
