How much does contractor website design cost in 2026?

The short answer

Using only published prices, a contractor website costs $432.60 over three years if you build it yourself on WordPress, $1,332.96 on Wix or Squarespace Core, $2,891.24 to $3,894.24 for a one-time Sites4Contractors build, $7,284.24 to $9,264.24 for Footbridge Media's monthly program, and $12,300.24 to $24,300.24 plus hosting for a Hook Agency build. Each total includes a domain and one business email inbox. Blue Corona, ServiceTitan's Scorpion sites and Websites by Housecall Pro are quote only.

The range: $432.60 to $24,300.24 over three years

Using only prices vendors publish, a contractor website costs $432.60 over three years at the low end and $24,300.24 plus hosting at the high end. That’s about $12 to $675 a month. Where you land depends on who does the work.

  • Build it yourself: WordPress on Bluehost Starter, $432.60; Duda Basic, $984.24; Wix Core or Squarespace Core, $1,332.96.
  • The site inside your field-service software: Jobber Core, $1,344.24, and that price includes the scheduling and invoicing software.
  • A one-time agency build: Sites4Contractors Starter, $2,891.24, or Basic, $3,894.24.
  • A monthly marketing program: Footbridge Media, $7,284.24 at its CertainPath member rate or $9,264.24 at the standard rate.
  • A financed or custom agency build: Sites4Contractors Pro, $11,894.24, or Hook Agency, $12,300.24 to $24,300.24 plus hosting it doesn’t publish.
  • Quote only: Blue Corona, ServiceTitan with Scorpion, and Websites by Housecall Pro.

The pricier routes often include work the cheap ones don’t, such as written content, SEO or review tools. Compare what’s included, not just the total.

What you pay for

A construction website cost breaks into up to seven parts. Some vendors bundle several; others charge for each.

  • Design and build. $0 if you set up a builder yourself, $1,997 to $3,000 at Sites4Contractors, and $12,000 to $24,000 at Hook Agency, which says complex sites run “up to 50k.”
  • Platform or hosting. A builder plan, or web hosting for WordPress. Bluehost Starter is $3.99 a month on a 36-month term, then $9.99 a month.
  • Domain. Your domain name. Namecheap’s .com is $11.28 the first year and $18.48 a year after. Wix, Squarespace and Bluehost include a free first year. Sites4Contractors’ terms make you responsible for registering the domain.
  • Email. A Google Workspace Business Starter inbox is $7 a month billed yearly ($8.40 on the flexible plan). We count one inbox of email hosting for every route.
  • Themes and plugins on WordPress. GeneratePress Premium is $59 a year, and Elementor Pro Essential is $49 a year for one site. Several sites in our construction website examples run on Elementor.
  • Upkeep. Sites4Contractors charges $297 a year after year one ($397 on Pro) for hosting, support, updates, backups and a review app. On a DIY site, upkeep is your time.
  • Marketing. Optional, and often the biggest line. Hook Agency’s local SEO starts at $2,800 a month and pay-per-click management at $2,000 a month. Footbridge Media’s minimum Google Ads budget is $775 a month in ad spend.

How we count. Build or setup fee, plus the plan or hosting price for 36 months. Domain: Namecheap’s .com at $11.28 the first year and $18.48 for each renewal ($48.24 over 3 years), or two renewals ($36.96) where the plan includes a free first year. Email: one Google Workspace inbox at $7 a month billed yearly ($252). Ads, extra users, paid plugins and taxes are not included. The domain and email lines are estimates; yours may differ.

Notes on each route

  • WordPress. Bluehost’s $3.99 price needs a 36-month term and renews at $9.99 a month, so year four costs more. A free theme is assumed; adding GeneratePress Premium ($59 x 3 = $177) makes it $609.60. You, or someone you pay, does the build.
  • Duda Basic. One site, and no export on this plan. Billed monthly at $25, the route is $1,200.24. See the Duda pricing page.
  • Wix Core. Wix shows month-to-month prices only at checkout. Core is the lowest plan that takes online payments.
  • Squarespace Core. Billed monthly at $39, the route is $1,704.24, since the free domain applies only to annual plans. Core includes one Google Workspace account free for the first year, so your email cost may be lower.
  • Jobber Core. The price buys Jobber’s quoting, scheduling and invoicing for one user, with the website included. With no commitment, at $49 a month, the route is $2,064.24 (Jobber pricing).
  • Sites4Contractors. Starter is a 6-page site; Basic is 15 pages with copywriting, and can be paid as $1,000 down plus 10 payments of $200. The pages don’t say whether prices are US or Canadian dollars (its packages).
  • Footbridge Media. The fee also covers SEO, local listings and review management, so part of it is a marketing budget. Footbridge pledges no price increase for at least three years (its program page).
  • Sites4Contractors Pro. Year one costs $10,800 and includes ongoing management. After that you can keep hosting only, at $397 a year (shown), or keep management at $650 a month with no contract, which makes the route $26,700.24.
  • Hook Agency. The pricing page doesn’t list hosting or care after launch, so ask before you sign (Hook pricing).

Contracts and the cost of leaving

VendorContractLeaving earlyWhat you keep
Footbridge MediaMonth to month; 90-day money-back guaranteePay for work completed to dateThe site after 90 days, as HTML files
Sites4Contractors Starter or BasicEither side can stop with written noticeDeposit forfeited once work startsA license to use and modify the site, once paid
Sites4Contractors ProOne-year commitmentCancel in year one and you lose the siteThe site after month 12
JobberMonthly, 12-month minimum or annual prepaid; auto-renewsAnnual prepaid is non-refundableNo site export documented
Housecall ProNo long-term contractsDowngrades apply at period endNo content export documented
Hook AgencyNot publishedNot published“You own your website 100%”
  • Footbridge Media. Its terms say you own the site once you’ve been signed up for more than 90 days, and it will zip up the files on request. Its FAQ says the review system, dashboard, forms, CMS and hosting stop working without a subscription, and “your content and your domain are always yours.”
  • Sites4Contractors. Its terms keep the agency’s rights in templates, code and design assets; once you’ve paid in full, you get a license to use and modify the finished site. Prepaid hosting may be refunded pro rata, and a site more than 45 days past due can be suspended.
  • Jobber. If you bought your domain through Jobber, it comes from IONOS, and renewals and cancellation are managed through IONOS, not Jobber.

The bigger leaving cost is the rebuild. If a vendor doesn’t let you export a working site, you pay to build it again somewhere else. Among general builders, Wix scores 3/10 on our exit score, Squarespace 5/10, Duda 6/10 (export from its Agency plan) and self-hosted WordPress 10/10. Compare them in our exit scores tool.

Hidden costs to ask about

  • Hosting renewals. Bluehost’s intro price ends after 36 months. SiteGround’s StartUp plan is $2.99 a month prepaid for 12 months, then renews at $17.99 a month.
  • Extra users. Jobber charges $29 a month for each extra user, and Housecall Pro $35 a month on Max.
  • Plugin licenses. Sites4Contractors says that if you host the site yourself, plugin and software licensing runs roughly $400 a year.
  • Ad spend on top of fees. A management fee doesn’t include the clicks. Footbridge’s $775 a month minimum is ad spend alone.
  • Payment plans. Sites4Contractors Pro shows $3,000 up front, but year one comes to $10,800.
  • Currency. Ask Sites4Contractors whether its prices are US or Canadian dollars.

How to keep the cost down

  1. Use what you already pay for. If you run jobs in Jobber, its site builder is included in your plan.
  2. Pay yearly when it’s cheaper. Jobber Core is $29 a month billed yearly instead of $49, Squarespace Core $29 instead of $39, Duda Basic $19 instead of $25.
  3. Start small. Launch with your main services and top towns, then add pages as jobs come in.
  4. Own your domain at your own registrar, so switching vendors doesn’t cost you your address.
  5. Get ownership in writing before you pay a deposit.
  6. Price the site apart from the marketing. Compare build and hosting first, then decide on SEO or ads.
  7. Use trials. Jobber and Housecall Pro offer 14-day trials with no card, and Footbridge Media has a 90-day money-back guarantee.
