How much does a nonprofit website cost in 2026?
The short answer

Building it yourself is $432.60 on WordPress or $972.96 to $1,332.96 on Squarespace or Wix; WildApricot, Neon Websites and Morweb run $2,438.64 to $7,464.24. The range: $432.60 to $7,464.24 over three years
Using only prices vendors publish, a nonprofit website costs $432.60 to $7,464.24 over three years, before donation fees and any donor CRM. That’s about $12 to $207 a month, including a domain and one business email inbox.
- Build it yourself: WordPress on Bluehost Starter, $432.60; Squarespace Basic, $972.96; Wix Core or Squarespace Core, $1,332.96.
- A membership platform with a website: WildApricot for 100 contacts, $2,438.64 prepaid yearly or $2,676.24 billed monthly.
- A nonprofit website platform: Neon Websites $3,504.24 to $4,754.24 on its own; Morweb $5,664.24 to $7,464.24 plus an unpublished setup fee.
- Quote only: WildApricot above 100 contacts, Morweb Engage and Enterprise, Donorbox Premium.
Donation fees can cost more than the site. On $20,000 a year in gifts, they run from $0 to $2,830 a year in our worked example below.
What you pay for
A nonprofit website cost has up to seven parts. Some vendors bundle several.
- The site. From $3.99 a month for WordPress hosting to $199 a month for Morweb Grow.
- The donation tool. Free (Zeffy, Givebutter Free, Donorbox Standard, the GiveWP plugin) or a subscription, such as Givebutter Plus from $29 a month or Donorbox Pro at $150.
- Platform fees. A percentage some tools take from each gift: 3% on Givebutter with tips off, 2.95% on Donorbox Standard. See our transaction fees entry.
- Card processing. Charged by the payment gateway on every card gift, such as Stripe’s 2.2% + 30 cents at Donorbox’s US nonprofit rates.
- A donor CRM, if you want one: Neon CRM from $99 a month, Bloomerang CRM from $125 a month billed annually.
- Domain. Namecheap’s .com is $11.28 the first year and $18.48 a year after. Wix, Squarespace’s yearly plans and Bluehost include a free first year.
- Email. One Google Workspace Business Starter inbox is $7 a month on the annual plan. Eligible nonprofits can use Google Workspace for Nonprofits’ $0 edition instead.

Notes on each route
- WordPress. Bluehost’s $3.99 price needs a 36-month term and renews at $9.99 a month. The total assumes a free theme and a free donation tool. GiveWP’s paid add-ons are a $350 bundle for one site from Liquid Web, and the page doesn’t say whether that is yearly or one-time (Liquid Web).
- Wix. Core is the first plan that takes payments, which Wix Donations needs. TechSoup members can get 70% off a 2-year Premium plan plus a 1-year domain voucher, but Wix doesn’t publish 2-year prices on its plans page, so we can’t show the discounted total.
- Squarespace. We couldn’t confirm a nonprofit discount from Squarespace’s own pages, so these are full published prices. The free first-year domain comes only with yearly plans.
- WildApricot. A 2-year prepay is $56.10 a month. If you use PayPal, Stripe or Authorize.net instead of WildApricot Payments, add a servicing fee of 20% of your plan: $142.56 a year on the $712.80 plan, or $427.68 over three years (billing policy).
- Neon One. Websites is $69 a month only if you also buy another Neon One product. Neon CRM starts at $99 a month and is priced by revenue (Neon Websites).
- Morweb. Starter and Grow are listed as “starting at” prices. The setup fee “varies based on the size, complexity, plan selected and add-on modules,” and yearly prices aren’t published. No email hosting is included (Morweb pricing).
Our website cost calculator handles the plan, domain and email lines.
Donation fees: a worked example
This is an example, not a quote. Say your nonprofit raises $20,000 a year online from 200 gifts of $100. Here’s what each donation tool costs you at that volume, using published rates for card gifts.
| Donation tool | Yearly math | Per year | Over 3 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zeffy | $0; donors may tip Zeffy | $0 | $0 |
| Givebutter Free, tips on | 0% platform, 0% processing | $0 | $0 |
| Donorbox Standard | 2.95% + 2.2% of $20,000, + 200 x $0.30 | $1,090 | $3,270 |
| Givebutter Free, tips off | 3% + 2.9% of $20,000, + 200 x $0.30 | $1,240 | $3,720 |
| Bloomerang CRM forms | $125 x 12 + 3.2% of $20,000 + 200 x $0.30 | $2,200 | $6,600 |
| Donorbox Pro, billed monthly | $150 x 12 + 1.75% + 2.2% of $20,000 + 200 x $0.30 | $2,650 | $7,950 |
| Bloomerang CRM + Fundraising | $165 x 12 + 3.95% of $20,000 + 200 x $0.30 | $2,830 | $8,490 |
Three things the table doesn’t show:
- Who pays. On Zeffy and Givebutter with tips on, the donor is asked for an optional tip at checkout. Zeffy says about two in three donors tip, and Givebutter says its fees are “covered by 92% of donors.”
- What you get. The Bloomerang rows include a donor CRM subscription, and Givebutter includes a CRM in its Free plan. Donorbox Pro adds receipt rebranding, Zapier and API access, and crypto and stock gifts.
- Tools that charge processing only. Wix Donations, the GiveWP free plugin, WildApricot and Morweb add no platform fee in their published terms, but your payment provider still charges processing. GiveWP’s page says additional Stripe fees “may apply for free users” without an amount, and Neon Pay doesn’t publish its base card rate.
The math also shows when a paid plan pays off. Donorbox Pro cuts the platform fee from 2.95% to 1.75%, a 1.2-point saving, so at the monthly price ($1,800 a year) it only beats Standard above $150,000 a year in gifts through those forms.
Free tools that lower the bill
- Google Workspace for Nonprofits has a $0 edition with email on your domain. If you qualify, take $252 off every total above; Business Standard is $3.50 per user a month on a 1-year commitment (Google).
- Canva for Nonprofits gives premium Canva Teams features free to one team of up to 50 at eligible nonprofits.
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium is “available at a 75% discount for eligible nonprofits.”
- Google Ad Grants gives qualifying nonprofits up to $10,000 a month in free Google search ads, if your site meets Google’s website policy. Our nonprofit website builder guide covers the policy.
Contracts and the cost of leaving
| Vendor | Contract | Leaving | What you keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bloomerang | 2-year first term, then 1-year renewals | Written notice 45 days before the first term ends | Your data; not kept past 90 days |
| Neon One | 12 months by default, auto-renews | Notice 30 days before term end; fees non-refundable | Your data, but no export window after you leave |
| WildApricot | Monthly, 1-year or 2-year, auto-renews | Cancel any time; no refund for paid time | Your site content |
| Morweb | Monthly or yearly | No cancellation fees; non-refundable | Content exports any time |
| Donorbox | No term; cancel any time | No setup or cancellation fees | 30 days to export after you leave |
| Givebutter | No minimum; Plus auto-renews | Cancel renewal from your account page | Contacts export to CSV |
| Zeffy | No paid plan | Nothing to cancel | Payments, receipts and contacts export |
- Bloomerang. Its subscription agreement says your data “remains your sole property,” but Bloomerang isn’t responsible for keeping it more than 90 days after termination (agreement).
- Neon One. Its terms let it raise fees once per calendar year with 30 days’ notice, and after termination you have no further access to your data (terms). Export before you give notice.
- Givebutter. Its terms let it change subscription, transaction or platform fees at its discretion, with prior notice for subscription changes.
The bigger cost of leaving is often the rebuild. Wix scores 3/10 on our exit score, Squarespace 5/10 and self-hosted WordPress 10/10; compare them in our exit scores tool and read our guide to leaving your website builder.
Hidden costs to ask about
- Payment add-on fees. Neon Pay has a $6.99 a month merchant account fee ($251.64 over three years), 0.50% for daily payouts, $20 per chargeback and $15 per ACH return.
- Using your own processor. Bloomerang adds 1.95% on its Fundraising forms with a third-party processor; WildApricot adds its 20% servicing fee; Neon lists a $50 a month external processor support fee if it applies.
- Add-ons. Donorbox’s Zapier and API add-on is $17 a month and Text-to-Give $19. Moving recurring donors into Donorbox costs $195 flat on Standard and Pro.
- Growing contact lists. Givebutter Plus, WildApricot and Bloomerang price by contacts or records, so the bill rises as your list grows.
How to keep the cost down
- Apply for the nonprofit programs first. Google Workspace for Nonprofits, Canva, Ad Grants and Wix through TechSoup can cut real dollars.
- Do the fee math on your own giving. Multiply last year’s online gifts by each tool’s platform and card rate before you compare monthly prices.
- Pay yearly when it’s cheaper. WildApricot is $59.40 a month prepaid for a year instead of $66; Squarespace Basic is $19 instead of $25.
- Own your domain in the organization’s name, and get data export terms in writing before you sign.
- Use the trials. WildApricot has a 60-day free trial with no card, and Givebutter Plus a 30-day commitment-free trial.

How much does a nonprofit website cost per month?
Published site plans run from $3.99 a month (Bluehost Starter for WordPress, 36-month term) to $199 a month (Morweb Grow). Averaged over three years with domain and email, that's about $12 to $207 a month.
Are free donation tools really free?
Zeffy and Givebutter Free with tips on charge the nonprofit no platform or card fees; donors are asked for an optional tip instead. Donorbox Standard has no monthly fee but takes 2.95% of each gift plus card processing.
Can a nonprofit get free email on its own domain?
Eligible nonprofits can use Google Workspace for Nonprofits' $0 edition, which includes email on your domain. That would take $252 off each 3-year total on this page.
What happens to our donor data if we cancel?
It depends on the vendor. Donorbox gives you 30 days to export, Bloomerang isn't responsible for your data after 90 days, and Neon One's terms say you lose access at termination, so export first. Self-hosted WordPress keeps everything in your own database.
